About us

Climb Craft Coaching was founded by Dr Ashlee Hendy, a climber and academic with a research background in resistance training and neuroscience. She has climbed and traveled around the world, onsighting up to grade 28 (5.13a/7C+), and redpointing up to grade 30 (5.13c/8A+) in both sport and trad. She recently gave birth to her daughter Ella, returning to send grade 30 within a year, and finding a new interest in bouldering (sending up to V9) thanks to it's benefits in family crag logistics. She has an undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sports Science, and a PhD in neurophysiology and resistance training (Deakin University, 2014). Since receiving her PhD, Ashlee has published over 30 scientific papers in the field of exercise neurophysiology, and taught hundreds (perhaps thousands) of undergraduate and postgraduate Sports Science students about the principles of strength and conditioning. Over the years, Ashlee has balanced her love of climbing, teaching and training with her professional life, but now it's time to bring it all together and use these skills to help fellow climbers achieve their goals with the launch of Climb Craft Coaching.

Ashlee believes she has something to offer all climbers who are seeking to improve their skills, strength and performance on the wall. She is passionate about high quality coaching, and applying her scientific knowledge in training settings. Ashlee is currently based in Natimuk, Victoria, where she enjoys climbing at the nearby Djurite (Mount Arapiles) and Gariwerd (Grampians) National Park.
